    Default old amp dangers

i thought i would post this,im not a know it all, im sure lots of you know this allready.but if i just helps a few people. it will be a good thing
i have a 1968 fender dual showman iv had for years, i havent played it in a while so i wanted to get it working.i thought i could do the work myself so i started to read about it.i was scared even before i started to read because when i turned the amp on smoke came off the tubes.here are some eye opening things you should know about old and all tube amps~

~if you buy a old tube amp dont just plug it in, have it checked out, among other things it has old capacitors in it, they might be leaking and cause a fire, the capacitors
are made with holes to leak out of.
~never play a amp with a two prong power cord, you can get a shock that can stop your heart, or even kill you.
~have the cord changed to a three prong.and if you are not sure what you are doing, get a pro to do it.if you dont know what you are doing , again a shock can happen.even when you are playing your guitar sometime later.
~amps store power in them even when unplugged, if you work on a open amp and dont know what you are doing you can get a shock that can even kill you.
~never replace the fuse with a forein object or a fuse of a different size then is
specified.people have been killed from this.
~please dont play in your bare feet.a shock just waiting to happen...common sense.
~if you are going to change a tube, let your amp cool down first ...common sense again. be careful when pulling the tube from the socket. shocks sometimes happen

    Can we get a witness?

All good advice bud. I've been shocked more times than I count from amps that were totally unplugged, most recently inside a Wurlitzer Electric Piano (unplugged). I hate it when that happens.

We are supposed to work on a grounding mat. Google that, guys 'n gals!

As of now I will no longer let my son or his friends plug in my Super 60 to a flat, 2 prong extension cord. Appreciate the warning.

So... lemme get this straight... I shouldn't be using pennies for fuses? No?
Some contend that rock 'n roll is bad for the body & bad for the soul
Bad for the heart, bad for the mind, bad for the deaf & bad for the blind.
It makes some men crazy and they talk like fools.

And it's especially dangerous to work on amps if you're really drunk, whew, damn...
