    Default 1974 Mustang Unveiled!

Here's my 1974 FENDER USA Mustang which I got out recently from underneath my parents' bed. I got a craving to try it out and bring it home. It has a hardshell case and tremolo arm as well.

It sounds great. I wasn't expecting that, since the Mustang always was supposed to a "lesser" guitar, to it's big brother Strat (I remember when they were introduced and liked them from the start, even before I was playing). However, it is not a Musicmaster or Duo-Sonic, it's a step-up as you know. I had 2 Mustangs, and sold the white & red '66, although it was nice...... I just preferred the Sunburst. I never did figure out how the switching works, even though Jerry D49 explained it to me. It's definitely different, and hard to decipher. Anyway, I really like it.

The scale is said to be 24 1/2" I believe, though it measures 24 1/4. It's actually longer overall than a Strat, and super comfortable. It's a very easy and relaxed feel, and the neck is thin. I prefer wider, but they're all the same. The sounds are great, bright & spanky on demand, also surprisingly mellow and jazzy too. The pickups are extremely lively, while also being quiet. Altogether very easy to play and to like. Meet Sally.

Hi Sally! Wow, your headstock is almost as big as your body! :D
Some contend that rock 'n roll is bad for the body & bad for the soul
Bad for the heart, bad for the mind, bad for the deaf & bad for the blind.
It makes some men crazy and they talk like fools.
Makes some men crazy and they start to drool.

"But I don't want to go among mad people" Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat, "We're all mad here 'n stuff."
