    Default Rosewood Fingerboard

The Jazzmaster was the first Fender to have a rosewood fingerboard. Anyone know why? Rosewood became available on other Fender guitars in 1959.

Well of course Mac, Why and I go way back. We grew up together.
Why and I, great friends we were, thanks for asking

Hey Mac, I'm going to see Sean either Thursday or Friday night, you gonna make it?
I know it's a long drive for you, it's a short hop for me compared to you.

Hey Lucky, how's ol' why been doing? Haven't seen him since he and what went where. As far as seeing Sean I don't know. McGillwoman had another spinal tap and may or may not be up to it. Since I already have a week in Boise without her in a couple weeks it'll take some fancy dancin' and likely a frying pan across the head if I come alone. We'll see.

Maybe: Jazzmaster was meant for jazz players, and rosewood looks more elegant and has a darker tone... thus good for jazz!

Maybe. Fender felt the Strat was the finest guitar design ever made and the Jazzmaster was an attempt to build an even better guitar though. I'm just glad they didn't abandon the Tele...

I'd read somewhere that Leo's idea when he brought out the stRAT was that the Tele would then become obsolete.

    Ah man.........
That would be just like saying that curvy, blue eyed blondes had to go just because some red head walked in.
    That just isn't right.
    Telecaster obsolete...humph..............

Some contend that rock 'n roll is bad for the body & bad for the soul
Bad for the heart, bad for the mind, bad for the deaf & bad for the blind.
It makes some men crazy and they talk like fools.
