Thatís a great coincidence, I feel the same about my 1963 Jaguar that the previous (and original) owner refinished mine in Olympic White also. It was originally sunburst, so the headstockwas unpainted

    Looks like it's a '63

Toward the end of 1962 Fender's success kept on building. He was nearing his 100,000th guitar. Instead of adding another digit on to his 5-digit ID numbers, Leo decided to add an "L", presumably for his first initial, in front of the serial numbers and start the sequence all over again. This time all the identification numbers under 10,000 fill the empty digits with zeros. For example, the 989th guitar's ID number would not be L989. It was L00989. Since this change wasn't until the end of 1962, only a few true 1962 Fenders have an "L" serial number.
    Numbers Low High Years
    L00001-L19999 L0001 L60330 1963
    L20000-L59999 L08825 L92560 1964
    L60000-L99999 L23537 L99944 1965
Whether you think you can...or you can't...you're right!

Some mistakes are just too much fun to only make once!!!

    Just the facts, ma'am.
Some contend that rock 'n roll is bad for the body & bad for the soul
Bad for the heart, bad for the mind, bad for the deaf & bad for the blind.
It makes some men crazy and they talk like fools.

My 63 has the month and year penciled in the tailpiece cavity. And the serial number is L0538x and is from July 63.
