    Food for thought…
I'd be willing to bet it wasn't Paul Reed Smith!

The real challenge is to make a good guitar for $200 and sell it for $2000.
"But I don't want to go among mad people" Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat, "We're all mad here 'n stuff."

Anything more beautifull than a relic'd Olympic White '62 Stratocater?

    Yes... Danish Connie Nielsen

Has anyone heard of a neck-through-the-body Strat copy made by Conn? I bought one as my first electric when I was 17. The neck and fretboard were blonde maple, and the laminated body was a darker-stained wood. The whole guitar was covered with so much laquer (even the frets!) that it felt like plastic while weighing a ton. The proportions were pure Stratocaster (except the headstock), and it even had a 3-ply W/B/W pickguard around the standard 3 single-coils. The guitar had a chrome top-loader hardtail bridge, so you'd think it would be a sustain monster right?

Wrong. This thing was garbage. The pickups buzzed like a cheap walkie-talkie, and when you turned the volume up to get some noise out of them, the whole thing sounded like it was coming out of an AM radio. I even remember re-stringing it with GHS Boomers, but the thing refused to sustain a decent note no matter how hard you shook the string. I outgrew this guitar after a few lessons and traded it for my now deeply-missed MIJ Squier Strat. Playing the *** Strat is what inspired my love of the instrument (if not an explosion of talent) that lives to this day. So if we count Squiers as "copies" and not full-blooded Stratocasters, I'd say best copy: Squier. Worst copy: Conn (if another one exists!)

Yeah, it'd be hard to get one worse than that, I guess.
