    Default Humbucker questions

Hey so is this a good deal? There is this place in Austin that works with a Chinese guitar shop and makes custom guitars. Anyway, they have pickups, i don't know where they are made but they are wooden with a 19k at bridge and a 9k at neck for only 49 bucks, you think its worth it?

I never even knew they had 19k pickups!

Not sure why they are wound that hot. I'd be cautious and ask around on other guitar forums to see if anyone has tried them.

19k? Sure, if you play through a solid state amp and don't care about tone. That's not a pickup, its a pink noise generator.

Monster. That is a very hot wind, it might push a lot of volume, but it might be a bit on the dark side. I used to have a set that looked like that on a guitar I bought from Doctor Mike. I don't remember how hot they were wound, but they did rock.

I'm not buying them, I was just wondering. They are so affordable it might be worth a try, but i'm not biting!

Uh, 19K!? really? I could agree with dear Stan about dark, murky tone... depends of guitar wood and type of amp, honestly speaking pickups with "ohm-age" above 16K aren't worthy to consider even for dead metal (chug chug) as mostly produce non articulate tone. Mentioned Chinese PU could also be a micro phony generator, hard to shield and get acceptable tone. Yes, 49$ isn't big amount but... if you look for PU adventure, you're on right track, good luck James.
