Indeed! Will it work through the whole body or would it need to be done to the cap before attaching it to the body?

    Wow! Just Wow!

I does seem kinda cruel though, I mean what did that chunk of wood ever do to you?

I work on the assumption the tree died when the axe fell.

The rest is art and I like it.

I believe he just applies the electrodes to the top and the current burns across the surface. I sent him a solid Alder body.

I assume it tracks the sap lines as an electrolyte in the wood.

I actually think that the current flows from each electrode toward the other over soaked wood, sending branches out as they go, eventually joining if you run the current long enough. Think of it as "Lightning across Wood". It it is slowed down considerably, revealing beautiful branching patterns not visible on any live lightning photo!

Ah... I'm thinking "wood's an insulator" but if it's soaked... That must be it.. Branching must occur as the resistance builds temporarily in the main path.... Or something... OK... next problem!

Would be pretty cool on a guitar body... or a NECK!!

I'm looking forward to seeing the results of this new experiment on a guitar body!

Hopefully coming right up, but more likely a month or two. Working with new supplier on neck and two new suppliers on the body. This thing is a (probably deranged and diabolical or at least socially awkward) experiment which ultimately should not pose any threat to humanity and might actually be a great player, cosmetics aside.
