    Default Hello everyone

Hello everyone. My name is Chris. I picked up my first strat yesterday at a yard sale of all places. Cleaned her all up, polished the frets, did a setup. She plays wonderful. Nice to meet everyone and hope to have a few questions answered in time. Thanks.

Welcome to FenderTalk! Congratulations on your first Strat, and may you play it loud and long.

Thanks guys! I知 very happy with how it turned out. Perhaps you guys will know, can I switch out the pickguard for a 3 single coil and ditch the humbucker? I really love the cleans on this guitar but the humbucker just seems wrong. Also, the tremolo bar showed up today. I ordered a Mexican Fender one but the threads seem to be a little loose. Is this normal? Thanks!

There should be a really small spring in the hole where the arm goes. It acts at a tensioner.

Most local guitar stores will just give you one. If not, a package 3-5 (I think) are dirt cheap.

Welcome, Seegar! Glad you found us! I have an American Lone Star Strat with a Seymour Duncan 'bucker and I use that more than anything... Even though I love the TX special singles....
Maybe you haven't found the exact pickup to string distance and balance yet? Sure you can put a single coil in there... But I'd play around with that humbucker for a while first. There are some good uses for 'bucker tone in Fenderland!
