I've owned both (still have a Blues Deluxe).

The solution for the loudness issues/aggressive volume pot taper with the Hot Rod amps is to use one of these: http://thesuperheroesonline.co.uk/Fe...ot-Module.html
Same principle as the links above but a lot neater and works a treat.

Of the two amps, I think the Hot Rods are better value but they suffer from inherent design flaws. Mainly the switching power resistors need replacing and removing far off the main pcb to prevent heat damage and the filter caps need replacing from the get-go, even with a new amp! Once this is done, the amps are fairly reliable and sound great.

The DRRI is better designed out of the gate but the latest models use a lot of digital components that add noise. They are expensive for what they are.

If you live in the UK, ALL Fender amps are set to the wrong voltage (they think we're on the same voltage as the rest of the EU), so they all need the mains power transformer wiring connections altered (for 240 volts AC!) and re-biasing out of the box.
I'm a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma.

'65 DRRI would be my pick between them too.
Whether you think you can...or you can't...you're right!

Some mistakes are just too much fun to only make once!!!

Ya, the foot switch 2 buttons clean/drive drive/more drive. Only reverb control is the dial.
