    Default Robben Ford last night

Saw Robben at the Hamilton in D.C. last night. Sat 10 feet from him and was just amazed watching his hands. It was an all Gibson night for him playing a 53 Les Paul Goldtop, a vintage SG and a modern Les Paul burst. I was a little disappointed not to see his Tele but he did have his Dumble and his tone was just awesome. He announced a new CD coming in late August and the 4 songs he played from it were great.

Got to meet him and say hi after the show. Nice guy.

Robben is a master! Lucky you to experience that!

I'm afraid not, zenken, where is it exactly? I was driving around the other day getting some DC driving footage on the GoPro, and drove by the old Bayou, which is now a movie theater complex. Then, I was driving up Connecticut by the old Roxy where I remember seeing Robert Cray in 1985 - gone! I hate that!

Speaking of the gig itself, I'm a little surprised that Robben is still traveling with his Dumble. I thought that Alexander quit servicing his amps, and that's why Larry Carlton started using Bludotones. I'd be nervous as hell touring with an amp like that these days! That said, for you it was great watching him..:) I've seen him a couple of times before, once with his Dumble and once when he was playing through some kind of Fender - a Super, I believe. Quite frankly, he sounded awesome both times and sounded exactly like himself. Its always great when you can actually meet them, and they turn out to be regular, nice people. I saw Lee Ritenour once at Blues Alley and said hi after the set - again, a totally nice guy!

I've seen him here at the Dutch Mason Blues Festival... awesome! He's in Halifax again July 13th playing with the Gerry Granelli band for one night and I'm out of town on vacation... :(
Whether you think you can...or you can't...you're right!

Some mistakes are just too much fun to only make once!!!
