    Default NOAD!

So, this Excelsior followed my wife and I home from one of our locally owned guitar shops. What a cool amp. I kinda dig how basic it is, and it takes pedals well! Fun clean amp!

Had to read up on this amp. Looks very cool in a very familiar way. Then I realized that in a previous life, it was a movie projector in our Jr. High movie room. What does it weigh? All my amps weigh 50 lbs. It's almost like a rule (which I'm planning on breaking). Thanks for bringing this one in!!

Hey! Congratulations, I've got one of those!

Actually, when I first got it I never really liked its tone, but a few months ago a solder geek friend of mine started modding it and it has really come alive. Originally I didn't get on with the tone switch, so I swapped that out with a more typical tone potentiometer and that helped some. But my buddy has gone in there and ripped out stuff, and swapped capacitors, resistors and stuff and made it into a little monster. He put in a foot switchable gadget that removes the negative feedback (or something like that, I didn't quite understand), and that acts like a boost that increases the gain too.

The next step is to put a real speaker in there. I plugged it into decent Celestion and the beast went from one dimensional to OMG. The Excelsior is quite an interesting little amp.
