    Default Which "Limited" Princeton Reverb?

    Hey Gang,

Looking to get my first tube amp. Home use only. Primarily like playing clean or with a little grunge. (blues, classic country, some southern rock etc.) I like the idea of a limited edition/FSR amp. If this thing is going to sit in my office every day, I want it to look cool/unique.

First off, can you guys sanity check my decision to get a Princeton Reverb? Seems like the right choice for me based on my research, but I am far from an expert on such things.

Second, assuming the PR is the correct amp for me, can you shed some light on these?

    #1 The Sweetwater Exclusive Tweed
Heard some positive things about this one. Sounds like the Cannabis Rex is a nice match for the PR. Like the tweed look.

    #2 The PR Sonic Gold
I'm leaning this way. Seems like a pretty unique amp given the 12in Celestion Gold. Haven't seen a single thing online about this one though so no idea if it's a good pairing or not.

    Random questions:

-What are your thoughts on these two amps?
-One of the above is listed as a 15-watt, the other is listed as a 12-watt. Is there really any difference in the two? If so, what are the ramifications of the difference in power? is one preferred over the other?
-Is there anything else I should be considering?

    Appreciate the input!

Tweed and a cannabis rex in a Princeton doesn't seem right to me. The sonic blue + Celestion Gold would be my choice of the two to maintain those classic Fender sparkly cleans.

I had a Gold in a Princeton clone and it sounded great.

~12/15 watts is the same ball park, so don't worry about it...except that both are going to be loud for home/office use!

If you're playing clean though, not so much of an issue. If you want some dirt, just add a pedal (unless you can crank it without annoying anyone).
I'm a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma.

I had a BFPR and had a Celestion Alnico Blue in it and it sounded beautiful, so I'm sure a Gold would sound great as well. I have not personally heard a Cannabis Rex.

For 50% more, you might consider one of these:

A friend has one, so I've used plenty and it is perhaps the sweetest-sounding amp I've ever played through (and I don't make that claim lightly, having owned amps from Dr. Z, Carr, Swart, Bogner, Goodsell, Divided by 13, Carol Ann, Red Iron, Nolatone, etc.)

Take the advice from the man who has played the best!

Or you could go with the old tried and true and get a Deluxe Reverb. I'm still playing one that was built in 1966 and it's sweet. I bought it used in 1972 from a little old lady who had never taken it out of her living room and she was just getting too old to play. True Story.

I know. I found her ad in a local paper, it came with the original cover, a Fender brochure in the back, and I doubt it was ever played over "2." I got there too late to buy her guitar, and I still wonder what kind of treasure that was! And while I was there her little dog lifted his leg and peed on my girlfriend, I didn't care. She wanted 200 bucks for it which I gladly paid.

I assume the amp rode up-front on the way home too?

Well, Got my amp! I ended up finding my "Grail" amp. a limited edition Knotty Pine with 12in Celestion Cream speaker. I never really considered it since they only made 100 of them but low and behold, one popped up on Reverb last week.

Not only does this thing look amazing, but it sounds absolutely incredible. I couldn't be happier with it.

Very nice choice! Wait 'til the speaker is broken in, if you think it sounds good now!
