Default Help! Using nail varnish to cover up a nasty finish chunk

My otherwise mint Muddy Waters Tele now has a visible chuck of the finish out on the back of the guitar thanks to a falling mic stand. Classic.

While not visible (it's in the area of buckle rash), I've heard of people filling the chunk with matched nail varnish. While not a perfect fix, I'd prefer the chunk to not be bare wood!

Anyone have any Candy Apple Red metallic experience of fixing a poly finish with nail varnish?
