When I wired my Les Paul with the famous Jimmy Page schematic, it took me a couple of weeks to work the bugs out of it. But that insane effort required 4 push/pull pots. What I found out was that I was envisioning the push/pull wiring upside down from what they intended. It's hard to see 3D in a 2D drawing. So perhaps if you switch the leads on that pot, things might get better. It sounds like you're describing some serious grounding issue.

I double-checked the up-and-down. Since there is only one push-pull pot I can rule that out. The buzz continues when that pot is out of the circuit.

Dang! Just looking at the schematic, I don't see anything there that looks wrong. Are you bolting all this to a metal plate like old school Pauls, or just wiring it up? Have you covered the cavity in copper foil or anything fancy like that?

Used shielding paint but might convert to copper tape.

I don't know if that will help, but it might not hurt, and it will take time. Of course, if you do, solder the pieces of copper together here and there.

Yeah, I just completely screwed the pooch and wired the jack backward. Second time in perhaps 60 or 70 jacks. This damned vacation has got me wound up, and I'm just not focused.
