Lars and his friend Torbien visited yesterday and stayed the night. Both excellent players, they gave the guitar a workout and I had the pleasure of sitting back and listening, tweaking the amp and some pedals, and I am blown away by both the Fralin humbucker and the Zexcoil bridge pickup. And the unknown was how they would sound together in the middle position. The answer is: pure magic. All three positions are completely different and totally usable, pobably like all 4 positions on Keb's Kiwicaster, and that is a significant measuring stick for me. Freaking pay dirt!! I have to unload some prior builds (if I can't sell them I will donate them to charity auctions) so I can build one of these for myself. This was a chance design inspired by Mike Stern's guitar and it just came together as the right combination of wood, hardware and electronics. I have to say, the humbucker is very warm but not muddy. It's really an amazing pickup but in the neck position, this is not your grandfather's Tele. I bet Keith would like it if we took a string off.

It must be pretty gratifying building each one a 'one off'
    custom guitar.
I would find it hard to part with everyone of 'em.
If you had a catalogue Mike, I would have seriously
considered choosing a Larcaster for it's looks alone,
you really knocked it out of the park on that one,
but I'm happy to say my new Tele is exactly what
    I wanted, thanks.
