Default Nashville Deluxe Power Tele Partscaster

I found a beautiful floral print pattern from an old Bentley Series 10 telecaster and am in process of putting it together as a Nashville Power Tele. As a matter of fact the only thing not factory Fender is the body. I have a neck, the electronics, piezo bridge and pickup set. I've read that there's some issue with battery drainage with this setup. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with wiring a switch to bypass that problem so I could still use the regular pickups if the battery were dead or missing? Thanks for any help!

Check the "optional 3-way toggle" in the lower right-hand corner of this pdf. Not sure if it bypasses the drain or not:

Can anyone else confirm about the battery drain or suggest another method? The Fishman installation pdf. actually doesn't even mention a battery connection, except in the case of having active pickups in your guitar already. Does that mean that the piezo would work w/out one?
