    Default Steve Vai

I don't particularly care for Vai's music, even as I totally acknowledge his monster chops. But I have to say that this lesson of his, although very general in nature, is one of the best pieces of advice I have ever seen. This guy must be one phenomenal teacher (as is his teacher, Joe). What I would have given for lessons with him when I was a kid!

    Technique

He used the words 'technique and technical' exactly 40 times.
I know 'cos I counted them.

I'm not good enough to have a technique, I leave
    that for real players.
