    Default Ehx hum debugger

With all the single coil guitars that Fender produces, anyone ever tried a hum debugger from EHX?? The last gig I played was terrible for 60 cycle hum and my Tele and P90 equipped Melody Maker were buzzing like a bees nest. My bass player had the same problem with his Ric until he pulled one of these hum debuggers out of his bag, plugged it in and eliminated all the buzzing. I was impressed.

I'm going to check out a used one tonight. I've heard some people say that it alters the sound and others say that it's pretty transparent. Anyone here ever tried one?

I haven't tried one of those, but I have sunk a lot of money into Kinman pickups and they sound wonderful to my ears, with no hum.

My American Strat hummed like crazy. I tried everything, the Hum Debugger, Sonic Stomp, Noise Gate, ISP Decimator and nothing worked until I bought noiseless pickups. I hear the Hum Debugger only works if the wiring of the room is bad. If you can get one cheap it might be worth it to try it.

I picked one up for about $45 US. Works great!! I have a dimmer downstairs and my single coils buzz like a hive. Turned on the hum debugger and it's virtually gone. I'm liking it.

    Does it change the sound?

Not that I can tell. I've heard that it can cut off the highs but I have some high end hearing loss so, if it cuts the highs, it's in the range that I can't hear.
