    Default A new strat order...

There is something about a roasted maple neck that is regal, and there is a simple elegance in quarter-sawn maple that just comes through in spades when the maple is roasted. I love the contrast between the austere appearance of the neck and the unleashed figuring in this beautiful, resonant and light (3-1/2 lbs) swamp ash body. This is going to be fun. It is for my friend, two-time National Flatpicking champion Scott Fore. Other than the roasted maple (and Tru Oil/Gun Wax finish on the back of the neck) it will be old-school vintage (Callaham hardware, nitro on the body and fretboard).

No, just a straight-forward bone nut. Scott was intrigued with the Zero Glide nut on the blue LP, but he wants this to be vintage with the exception of the roasted maple (and I think I've convinced him to go with staggered tuners to make more room for the flying pig). The only other non-vintage aspect will be finish on the back of the neck.

I have firsthand (pun intended) experience with a roasted, quarter-sawn maple neck finished with Tru Oil and Gun Wax - it's the BOMB! Smoother than a baby's bottom!

I have to say, Mike, that pictures like this are not doing me any good at all in my time of weakness! I'm going to have to do something drastic to stop myself from taking the next step, thanks to you, haha!

Before I go any further, let me publicly thank you for all that info in PM. Musikraft definitely looks like a great place. But just so you know, after I saw these pictures earlier today, I spent an hour on that page configuring that set neck...:)

The popcorn is popping as we speak. This reminds me of that time you built that guitar.
