    Default Charm City?

OK, ok...I know this is a clip of Sco doing his thing and giving a brief lesson in between, but watching this immediately took me back to the 80s/90s when I used to follow the Grainger brothers - many trips to Baltimore, and many more local gigs when the DC area actually had a semblance of a music scene. What a great bass player Gary is, and such a nice guy too - just like his brother Greg, who I used to catch every week at Takoma Station, and who was just such a phenomenal drummer in the Steve Gadd vein. Those were the days of mechanical sounding drum machines and MIDI sequencing, and I remember taking a couple of rough mixes I had done in a very primitive manner to him, and he would show me secrets to programming grooves that sounded a little more natural. Those two guys look so much alike that I would often mistake one for the other!

Of course, on this clip its Dennis Chambers on drums who, I'm afraid, I never managed to catch. I do remember how people in the DC area (and, I'm sure Baltimore as well) used to talk about him - Dennis was The King even then, way before his Steely Dan and Santana gigs.

    Remember that, Zenken?

    "DC" stands for "Dennis Chambers".

    Hah! That's some good stuff!
Some contend that rock 'n roll is bad for the body & bad for the soul
Bad for the heart, bad for the mind, bad for the deaf & bad for the blind.
It makes some men crazy and they talk like fools.
Makes some men crazy and they start to drool.
