    Default Tele Pickups

My all-time favorite forum question is, "What kind of pickups should I buy" with no other information provided. Since we haven't had that question lately, here I am to save the day :) I do have more info.

To satisfy my GAS I am putting together another Squier Tele Beastmaster 5000 in Dakota Red. I have read that Dakota Red may be the best sounding guitar. I have to find out if that is true. For this Tele I am wanting some aggressive sounding yet conventional looking pickups (pole pieces on bridge, traditional looking neck pup). I want a conventional, mild mannered looking Tele in which I can unleash a devilish beast from the pit of Hades when desired. I have some strat guitars with Seymour Duncan and Dimarzio hot rails type pickups so I am not considering those for this project. Here are my top contenders:

Harmonic Design Super 90 Set- I don't currently own andy Harmonic Design products so it would appeal to me to try some.

Rio Grande Dirty Harry Set- I have a set of these in a strat so I don't care to duplicate that sound since they have the exact same model in the strat.

Wolfetone Rabid Btch- Aggressive name but I don't think these are as aggressive as the aforementioned pickups. That doesn't mean they aren't great. They may be.

Bare Knuckles Piledriver- I got a set of Bare Knuckles for a strat beastmaster last summer and I really love them. Very fun.

Any other brands you guys can think of that I can throw into the mix? Shopping and deciding what to get is as much fun as playing them.
I'm not sayin' that, I'm just sayin'......

I gotta go with Chris Kinman's incredible 60's Custom set, although I also have a pair of Lindy Fralin's Blues Special pickups that are excellent.

Danny Gatton called Joe Barden Tele pickups the "Mercedes Benz of pickups", but I know people who hate them. At least, maybe add them to your list?...:)

Thanks for your input. I did check out the Bardens. I used to have some but sold that fiddle. They all have the hot rail design. I have looked at the OC Duff models quite a bit. They are on my radar and look like a good choice. I had forgotten about the Kinman's. I don't know if they have a P90ish product. Will take a look.

Sometimes you watch or listen to something that makes one realize they suck :)
Great tone that's easy to hear. They are all great. The drummer is great. I'm going back to work.
