    Default Is this common?

I am the second owner of this Precision bass. I bought it from an older guy that is no longer with us. I've never really paid much attention to other basses for the last 33 years because in my opinion none played as sweet as this one. The serial # is 412824 (1973-1974) Pots date to 1973 but the strangest part is it has a jazz neck? 1.5" at the nut. I've seen a few P basses with a jazz neck but they all say Fender Jazz on the head. I have included a few pics. Please let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks

Are you calling it a Jazz neck because it's only 1-1/2" at the nut?

From a thread on the BassTalk page regarding P-Bass necks:

    "My 71 is a B 1.625
    My 74 is an A 1.500"

Back before CNC machines, everything varied a little more due to actual hand work in shaping and tooling.
