    Default Alternate picking

    Don't laugh, but I spend inordinate amounts of time watching instructional clips - I really should be playing that much - but I ran into this really wonderful Guthrie Govan clip. His formidable chops aside, what really captured me about this clip was his very articulate explanation of the technique and a completely logical and non threatening, if you will, way of breaking things down and encouraging the student. Then again, I understand he studied English Lit at Oxford, so his speech should come as no surprise - but I'm willing to bet that if you studied with him, he would never compel you to play like him, sort of like Pat Metheny.

    Guthrie is quite likely from another dimension. Thanks, I enjoyed that one a lot.
