Default Wow - I'm glad I don't own stock in Gibson!

Sounds a lot like commentary on Fenders' CBS era. Only worse....

Lots of companies go through stages like this, especially when the founder is no longer around. I spent my entire career working for one that went from being one of the most respected and wonderful places to work to one of the most despised and terrible places to work; one which, to this day, has never really regained its mojo and most likely never will. Oddly enough, the stock prices didn't always reflect those trends and, in fact, often soared when employee treatment was at its worst.

It is a shame about Gibson, though. That said, I know people who don't say great things about PRS either, so who knows!

I think Gibson just needs a new CEO, but he's also the chair of the board. The Board needs to have the balls to do the right thing.

Apparently the CEO has bred some upper-level bullies to berate, micromanage and torment lower level employees. They need someone capable of removing those individuals. I don't think I have that much ass-whup in me.

That is so typical. The real shame is that any of us would give anything to be a CEO of a company like that and make it into something totally awesome - especially when all the skills, the name recognition and goodwill are already in place.

It's too bad such an iconic company can't keep it together. I mean Fender has it's issues but they still seem to make a great product with price/quality points to satisfy most. Though I admit I think their standard American series is tad overpriced but I'm a cheap b@stard.

Basically, all of the "music business" sucks. Those two terms just don't go well together.
Some contend that rock 'n roll is bad for the body & bad for the soul
Bad for the heart, bad for the mind, bad for the deaf & bad for the blind.
It makes some men crazy and they talk like fools.
