    Default Gries

I've been testing my Gries 5 and my DR clone over and over again, doing track after track, A/B'ing like a maniac. As great as they both sound (the DR does sound bigger, and the D-tone is just to die for, of course). they seem to cover so much of the same territory. I'm seriously wondering whether to let go of the Gries. What do you guys think?

You really are a twisted maniac, aren't you? That's probably why I like where you're coming from. I suffer from the same sickness. One of my symptoms is that I take all my amps and try to dial them up to sound like my Deluxe Reverb.

Ain't that the truth, Stan! I think you and I hear that DR tone in our heads as the holy grail - and since I already have a DR.......well, truth be told, the Gries is a great amp, no question; but I have to say that DR is magic - a very different level. But the tonal character is almost the same. I suspect that will be true of most BF Fenders, I suppose tweed circuits will sound different.

I've never experienced a real Tweed before, but I'd like to!

Me neither, except for the "Tweed" mode on the Gries.

Pardon my ignorance (I have a lot of it) but what is a "DR clone"?
