Default Any experience with Vox AC4-12?

I was aware of the little sucker with a 10" speaker, I liked the appearence, but found the 10" speaker too small sounding. Now I see Vox makes these 4 Watt babies with a 12" speaker! Has anyone been lucky enough to buy or test one? Opinions?

I seem to remember a thread about these on TDPRI or Strat-Talk. Suggest you check them out.

Is that AC4 the amp that Vox named after Brian May? I have seen them but not in person.

Alright, so I couldn't resist. The shops here in the area haven't got the amp, I'm soo curious, I just ordered it, it should be delivered tomorrow. I'll keep you guys informed. Here's also a nice link of a fellow Dutch guy who's checking the 10" version, which seems to be quite nice as well...

So today the AC4-12 arrived! It's a simple amp, one channel, with controls for gain, bass, treble and volume. I only did a quick check, so far so good, very Vox like sound. Like being in the Beatles. The bass is not very impressive, which was to be expected, since the cab is very portable. Oh, it's a little bright, but that verdict might not be completely honest since I compared this little amp with a 20W Budda Superdrive, which is a little on the dark side. The mids are just fine. Volume wise it is what you may expect from a 4 Watt single ended amp: it sure is a little tone monster. It goes from shimmery cleans all the way to classic rock. Tuesday I will take it to the band rehearsal and let you know if it survived the battle with the drummer

Small update: the drummer is not an agressive player and we don't do hardrock by any means, so volume wise the AC4 did well. However, tone wise, the speaker did sound harsh. Back home I took the Celestion Gold from my Budda and built it into the AC4... Vox Heaven has come. Harshness is gone, just pure Brit tone remained. Really too bad that these suckers are almost as expensive as the amp itself. I'm afraid that I will end up with two Golds in tha house nevertheless. Better not tell my wife

If it's any consolation, I have two Golds in the house too and the Wife is totally unaware.
