The way to a guitar's neck is through it's body. The way to a guitar's body is through the jack, and I'll just leave it at that. My guess is that the neck was originally with a different body, as the screw holes seem to have been eccentrically enlarged to accommodate for a slight mis-fit. Has anyone seen a 50's pickguard with a "genuine Fender" sticker like that?

I figured out how to zoom in on the heel image and now I can clearly see the fifth number to be a 4. That makes the serial number to be 010147?? which translates to precision bass, rosewood fingerboard, 47th week and I'm hoping the last two numbers work out to be a 3 and a 5.

The one pot serial number is 1377343 which dates it to the 43rd week of 1973. So, the neck plate, body, pot and cap, tuners and possibly the neck appear to be circa 1973. I have doubts about the pups and the jack is surely not original and probably the pickguard is not either.

It's starting to come together. I'm going to take the bass apart again and try to get a closer look at the last two numbers. I sure do want that seventh number to be a 3, lol.

Cool. It sounds like you've got it pretty well nailed down.
