Default Got another CV 50's Tele!

A block away from my house is my favourite Pawn Shop next door
to my favourite Pizza Place who sell reasonably priced gear.

Today I snagged another Squier Tele that was reduced from
$290NZ to $240NZ. I did the 'do you have laybuy (lay-away)
or will you take $200 cash?

So I got an $800 guitar for $200 + a good Stagg softcase
    that's $170US

It isn't in mint condition but it only has a tiny nick on the upper
fretboard edge and two small dings on the body, minimal fretware
and everything is tight as it should be. I'm going to clean it up
and mod it with some better electrics although I love the stock sound of
    my other CV Blonde Tele.

I snuck it inside without the wife seeing it and she won't know I have two
exact same guitars as I leave one at our practice room.

This was a deal I couldn't pass up, as I know it's a great playing guitar,
low action, no fretbuzz or choking out on any fret.

Very nice. Are you going to keep them both set up the same?

That's really cool, Keb! Congratulations! And speaking from experience, once you hit critical mass, she won't even notice a new guitar showing up once in awhile.

Ha ha, critical mass, I like it!

This one actually plays better than my new one, and this one is a 2009.

I want to import some nice U.S. pickups such as Bardens, Lollars or something
just to hear what a good pickup will sound like in her. I've tried Toneriders
in my SX Tele, but the stock pickups in these sound even better.

I might also put 10's on it instead of hybrid 9's that I love.

Keb, I'm leaving town for a week but I'll dig around in my pickup drawer when I get back.

Kebby, you live very near Kinman Country, you should give Chris' wares a try.

Yeah I was thinking that too Stan, I really loved those
Kinmans I had in my white Squier Protone.

There is such a wide variety of choice, and tone wise
I love that clucky sound all the great players achieve
such as Redd Volkaert and Bill Kirchen, I'm not so enamoured
of the Roy Buchanan stinging sound, I like it woody.

After blues guitar my favourite to noodle on is country chicken
    picking.

Guys, do you think this guitar would look nice with a pearloid
guard? I need to do something with it to differentiate it from
my other one or I will go cross-eyed looking at them. I think
dice knobs would be a nice touch as I don't do finger swells
on teles, the volume knob is too hard to reach with my pinky.

I'd like to turn the control plate around so I could do volume
swells, so I might bone up on a circuit diagram and attempt
that when I get some other pickups.

I like the black guard just fine.

I'd switch the control plate around to differentiate it from you other guitar and wire it with a 4-way switch.

And I agree with Stan - a set of Kinmans in there would be my choice (the Broadcaster set).

+1 on the Cap'n's suggestion. The 4-way switch is the Telecaster's secret weapon, and even Fender is wiring up some of their Teles with the control plate spun around (the Blacktop Telecasters).
