    Have you tried the footrest under your left foot? I sit on a regular chair, and put the footrest under my left foot when I'm doing a long sit-down gig.

    Yeah, when I use it under the right foot, I almost immediately get pain in my lower back. YMMV!

    Not sure of your sit-uation, but with my back pain I switched to stand up work desk, and also mostly try to stand while playing guitar. Sitting at a desk caused my back problem, and research now shows it causes cancer, so no chair might be an option for you.

    Fretter! Welcome to the Forum, and right on, I play most of the time standing up. It's only when I'm struggling with a chart that I might sit down and work something out for a little while. But when I'm gigging I'm standing up, so I might as well play it that way at home!
