I just picked up some GFS pups and this will be my first experience with them. I have heard really good things about them. Looking forward to it.

This sounds like a great strategy.

I have never been totally happy with gifs pickups but I also have never known ahead of time which were the best or recommend for my purpose at hand.

I have always thought that I should have paid the few extra dollars and gotten what I really wanted in the first place.

Good luck with yours and I hope the results exceed your expectations.

I wonder how their wide range humbuckers compare to the stock Fender versions.

GFS fits a niche - if I'm building a guitar for a charity auction where the buyer is not likely to have a discerning ear, or for a child, etc., they sound better than any stock pickup on a Squier and some of them are actually quite good; either way, they are hugely affordable.
