    This also occurred to me last night as I was thinking about this. It'd be a whole lot simpler than immersing the whole pickup and then trying to manipulate it while it's hot.

    Gotta love the machinist's logic. Start with a low setting and boost if needed.

    If you have two of 'em, I'd suggest heating that pup from both ends of the magnet at the same time. That might warm it up quicker.

    Seems to me I remember that you can use an electric soldering iron to de-magnetize a screwdriver (or other tool that ya don't want stuff to stick to) that's gotten magnetized. Not sure what it would do to a "real" magnet.....

    just sayin!!
