I will be curious to see what you think about the cobalts. I have a set that's been through two months' worth of practice sessions and 4 gigs, still sounding great, and I have hardly had to tune the guitar at all the entire time. Some of that is no doubt due to the Hipshot hardware, a decent neck and nut, but I'm impressed. The feel and tone are great as well - it's a new guitar and this is it's first set of strings, so I don't have a reference point. That's why I'm really curious to see what you think.

That's why I'm not planning to put them on Rusty when I get her finished - I want a basis for comparison. I can use the regular Slinkys as a baseline reference. When I do the next string change on Blue, I'll let you know.

Getting ready to try some Webstrings.com stuff. Hope it's good. Is it like buying at Aldi and getting Jewel stuff?

I've bought a lot of sets from webstrings.com and they were all good strings. But maybe my standards aren't as high as some of these smoots.

Have you tried the Balanced Tension yet?

Went to my local joke GC back in Feb and asked, "Do you have D'Addario Balanced Tension yet?" The salesman/shredder said, "never heard of them." Does he not have Facebook and belong to the D'Addario site? They were plugging them for months before they came out. You also know they were probably heavily promoting them to GC as well. If you look on the GC site, they still don't have them in the Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada stores.

    Michael,
Maybe the Balanced Tension strings won't hold up in that southwest heat!
I'm not sayin' that, I'm just sayin'......

"Ingeniously Twisted." I kinda like that phrase, a lot.

I bought some of the Guitar Fetish strings.... they sound ok; feel just like the EBs, but Man do they chew up a pick in no time! 20 minutes playing and my .88 Fender picks are frayed!! Probably will try something else when these FIVE sets are gone....

I tried the cobalts in lieu of the Elixirs I usually used up to that point. My impressions were that the cobalts perhaps had a bit more output, but also felt like they had more tension. But, for the price, they didn't seem to hold up very long. I then switched to D'Addadrios and they've lasted about as long as the cobalts and sound/feel just fine. There's a youtube clip where Robben Ford he's used D'Addarios forever, so I think I'll stick with them for a while now.
