    Default Early strats.

I have had the opportunity to turn a few of the early strats to clients and it is a real treat, most will (of course) want to have the axe taken apart for verification and somereally freak out when they see the early crude "chiseled" route enlargements under the guard.I get the "what's up with this " look and it quite amusing .Let me explain, the early strats need a little more depth in a few area's under the pickguard or needed a small area for the wiring to fit properly and not cause a bulge in the guard , the assemblers at Fender just grabbed a sharp chisel and gouged out where it was needed, never realizing how this was going to effect them 50 years later, funny but true.

"But I don't want to go among mad people" Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat, "We're all mad here 'n stuff."

Thanks , basically the first year strats were introduced they were "hand built" and are really considered prototypes for all intensive purposes, the one pictured even had the tape with the signature of final assembly still in her.
