    It's a sad day.

Last night we had band practice and our bass player has decided to leave the band. He was good about it, saying he won't leave until we get a replacement, but it still sucks.

Yeah, that blows. We went through the same thing about a year ago. Luckily I had a friend waiting in the wings.

Look around - there's got to be some unsung bass hero around near you somewhere.

Tim, If there's a decent jam night held regularly in Brissy (where your type of music is played of course) then I'd go there and check out who's playing. If you Jam reglarly, you can build up a network of musician friends and in times like these, that can help immensely.

It's still not the same. My band consists of my 5 best friends, and if 1 goes.. I dunno, its weird to think we will soon have an "outsider".

We already have a couple of people who are keen, so we will try them out I guess. See how committed they are.

Yes, it's a pity when it happens, but that's life!

FYI, I recently experienced exactly the same, as the lead guitarist in my No. 1 band announced out of the blue that we was moving to Perth in May. So we also have to find a new lead guitarist.

We appear to have found someone perfect fro the job from our circle of friends/musicians.

I went to a concert last night for a band called "Little Birdy". I'm not really a fan, but my sister is and she had a spare ticket, so I thought i'd go along. They were really good live but they played the longest set I've ever seen a live band play (2 hours 10 min) and seeing as how I didn't know a single song it dragged on a bit.

Anyway, I took some pics of them and the band that opened for them called "Oh Mercy" which were also really good.

Long sets used to be the go in the old days...pity it's not still the case.

But of course if you don't like what you're hearing - yes that could be a bit like extracting teeth...
